Guy Pinhas
March 26-April 8
Dear friends,
We are back with the fifth installment of the Process Projected exhibition series, the fascinating and opaque work of Guy Pinhas. I am thrilled to be showing this work, the first time it’s been shown in an exhibition, in preparation for a future book project.
I had the pleasure of meeting Guy during one of my photo walks in Amsterdam, and we quickly bonded over our shared experiences in the music industry. Back in the day, I ran indie rock labels in New York City, while Guy currently helms a record label as a "day job" after years of performing as a bassist in prominent stoner metal and doom metal bands.
Guy has been working on his project, "37000," over the past few years. Each time he visits Tours, the French city, he loads his camera with lesser-known bulk-rolled black-and-white film stocks. Throughout his day, Guy captures images of the places and moments that catch his eye, creating a unique and intriguing visual diary of his experiences.
Guy's work is captivating, as it's driven by a strong sense of atmosphere and emotion. His black-and-white vision, coupled with his focus on shadows and light, creates a powerful visual experience. The high-contrast film adds an enigmatic, almost abstract quality that invites viewers to delve into their own interpretations, crafting narratives based on their unique life experiences.
It's simultaneously intense and calming, striking a balance between representational and abstract elements. Guy's unique body of work is truly worth experiencing firsthand, as it offers a visually stimulating and thought-provoking experience.
Let me know if you pop by the gallery, I might be there or nearby.

Interesting work. Totally my cup of tea. Like the Japanese 'Are Bure boke' style. Thanks for bringing Guy to our attention.
I'd never place you on a stoner or doom metal band by the tone I get on your newsletters!! 🤘🤣🤘
