Process Projected
New Exhibition:
The Plane Spotters
Sinna Nasseri
May 28-June 10
Dear friends,
We are back with the ninth installment of the Process Projected exhibition series, the innovative and unique photo documentarian work of Sinna Nasseri. This is the first solo showing of Sinna’s work in Europe, but it won’t be the last.
I’ve been following Sinna’s work for over five years and have been consistently impressed with his unique way of documenting and his commitment to original storytelling. He first made an impact on a national scale when in 2020 he traveled to 35 states documenting the US election, pandemic and social movements for Vogue, TIME, The New York Times and The New Yorker.
Sinna combined short videos and photographs to capture the essence of that significant period. His work was both visceral and immediate, providing a unique perspective that rivals the best historical photography in its ability to convey the feeling of a particular moment. I hope his work will be compiled into a book someday, preserving this powerful narrative for future generations.1
In 2023, Sinna documented the plane spotting community in Los Angeles, which led to the New York Times article "Why Look at Planes?" by Rebecca Bengal. I had the pleasure of curating 24 photos from Sinna's work, forming the basis of this exhibition.
The series offers a glimpse into a passionate community of aviation enthusiasts that many of us might not be all that familiar with. Through these photos, we can appreciate the magic of flight, a marvel that, despite its familiarity, still captivates us when viewed from a fresh perspective.
Sinna is a standout photojournalist of our time, and his exceptional storytelling skills are on display in this charming project.
Let me know if you pop by the gallery, I might be there or nearby.
